6/11/2006 · I am looking to get a 19 degree or 21 degree hybrid to replace the 3 iron. I have tried both in the Titleist 585.H. I definitely hit the 19 better and it felt like a longer club noticeably. I know that the 21 is the same loft as the 3 iron in the MP-60 set, but I just didn't hit it as well. Does anyone have
- One is not better than the other...just different. A 5 wood and a 3 hybrid are different types of clubs and have a different job. Most 5 woods have about 18* of loft, 3 hybrids have approx. 21* (there is no industry standard on how much loft each club has so it varies from brand to brand) so loft-wise a 5 wood is closer to a 2 iron.
- 3/03/2009 · I actually carry 2 hybrids.....a 16 degree that replaced my 3 Wd and a 19 degree that replaces my 5 wd. I have found that the Hybrids are a bit more versatile and forgiving than their corresponding woods were.
- I didn’t know there was an 18 and 21 degree version until i found this page (which by the way came up on my search because I now wanted more information on the club after having hit it). I assume that they would be easier to hit off of the fairway than the 14 degree version.
- The hybrid sand wedge is much simpler to hit than a traditional sand wedge because it doesn’t require a special setup for bunker shots; simply set up and swing as on a normal iron shot, hitting about 1.5 inches behind the ball. Using a hybrid from the sand removes a lot of variables, so all you need to think about is how hard to swing.
